Thanks For The Memories!!
This week sees Year six students taking delivery of their successful DVD production, “ Interactive Yearbook 2009”. The presentation of the disks to the pupils is the final act in a fantastic fortnight which saw teachers and pupils working together to create a lasting memory of their time in Primary School.

Pictured are Mr McElwee and Westmoor pupils on receipt of their DVDs.
Mr McElwee takes up the story.
“ The summer term is quite an emotional time for our new Year 6 intake. They will be looking back with fondness and perhaps sadness on the great experiences gained at Primary School, as well as looking forward with excitement and a little trepidation to what life will be like at George Stephenson High School.
We decided to try and capture these emotions on a DVD to provide both students and staff with a lasting memory of this important time in the transition between Primary and High School”.
The event has been a huge success. Pupils from Amberley, Moor Edge, Backworth Park, Bailey Green, Shiremoor and West Moor Primary Schools have spent a day with High School staff recording and burning their DVDs. Students recorded sound and video files summarising their lasting memories of teachers and friends at Primary School, as well as looking forward to new, exciting opportunities at High School.
Mr McElwee continued,
“ It is amazing how quickly these students move through High School. In the blink of an eye I anticipate leading their leavers assembly in Sixth Form and these disks will act as a fabulous time capsule to remember their past school memories.
They are a superb way to conclude the fantastic successes and achievements have gained in Primary School, as well as a chance to look forward to further achievement in the High School setting”.
