Teacher of Mathematics
MPS/UPS
Required for September 2026 an outstanding teacher of Maths who is passionate about education.
George Stephenson High School is an 11-18 Trust School of 1200+ students, 112 of whom are in the Sixth Form. Our school has a really positive ethos, with very strong pastoral and academic guidance and a real emphasis on learning in everything we do. This school is and will always be a fully inclusive school which puts the students at the very centre of all that it does. We want it to be a school that is always a happy, safe and enjoyable place to be. Further to that we want the school to be at the very heart of the local community and to be the school of choice of all who live here. We have a committed, enthusiastic and highly skilled staff team, a supportive governing body and superb students. We genuinely believe the support, care and welfare of our students is second to none and we are a school which puts the students at the very centre of all that it does. We are though not a complacent school. There are many aspects that we can improve further and our challenge is to do this without compromising our existing strengths.
Our Maths department is a motivated and dynamic team of individuals with a passion for teaching mathematics. They have a strong focus on developing teaching and learning and department time is regularly focused on this. They are a hardworking and supportive team and seek to be the best they can be for our school and community. The Mathematics Department facilities are very good, with nine classrooms, each equipped with an interactive whiteboard. Our Mathematics curriculum is an in-house spiralling curriculum covering all KS3 national curriculum and GCSE content, which allows students to frequently revisit and develop their knowledge. Students are streamed in KS3 before being set in appropriate tiered classes in KS4. At KS4, we teach the Edexcel specification and offer AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics and Entry Level Mathematics
If you have passion and energy to inspire and motivate students and staff; a proven track record of success in raising standards; exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to teamwork then we would love to hear from you.
