Pupils Enter A New Dimension!
Youngsters at George Stephenson High School are preparing for a bold step into the unknown by creating and leading an innovative community event, the School’s Dimension Day.
The event takes place in the local community on Friday 19th June and is the culmination of a major school project aimed at raising the school’s profile in the community and developing sustainable links with its partners.
Students at George Stephenson High School have already worked in school on previous Dimension Days where they created promotional and advertising material using a range of cutting edge multi-media packages to develop the story of the School through their own experiences. Promotional DVDs are now pressed and ready to be shared with the community.
Tracey Anderson, Deputy Headteacher explained,
“The event is a fantastic opportunity for the community to learn and appreciate the real success stories and true community spirit of the students here at George Stephenson High School.”
“We hope this day will be the foundation for ongoing community links. We see the school as a focal point in the local community and we want to reach out and celebrate our successes.”
The day itself will see students visit a range of local community centres to spread the message. High School students will lead interactive workshops with younger students in Amberley, Westmoor, Bailey Green, Moor Edge, Shiremoor, Backworth Park and Holystone Primary Schools.
They will also present their work in the Killingworth White Swan Centre, Killingworth Shopping Centre and the Westmoor Community Centre. The school would love to see people come out and support the project by visiting the youngsters this Friday afternoon in the above Community Centres. It’s a chance for our young generation to really show off their pride and valued contribution to the Killingworth area.
