Local Authority Assisted Review of GSHS
North Tyneside Local Authority undertook a whole-school Review on October 5th/6th 2010. It was a very thorough process involving seven School Improvement Officers spending two full days in the school and submitting us to a very rigorous experience which will fully prepare us for our next Ofsted inspection. We were delighted with the outcome as they found us (in Ofsted terms) to be a good school with outstanding features.
They particularly praised the Care, Guidance and Support we provide for our students, recognising it (as Ofsted did last time) as outstanding. They were very positive about how well students behave in and around the school, how safe they feel and how positive our parents are about the school. They observed every teacher and saw no unsatisfactory lessons at all and saw a high proportion of good and outstanding lessons. They spoke very highly of the commitment to the school demonstrated by staff and students alike.
They concluded by saying that our capacity for sustained and further improvement was very strong, that the school has undergone "significant transformation" and that it is now very well placed to take off. Understandably, we were very pleased with these judgements and it is recognition for the hard work and effort put in daily in our school by our students, staff and parents.
