Each academic year our students choose a charity to support from a shortlist nominated by their peers.
In 2015/16 George Stephenson High School continued our fundraising efforts, as we successfully met our £10,000 target in support of Luke’s Life Legacy, a small local charity that provides support to families of children with brain tumours and funding for development of research into children’s brain cancer. A number of activities were organised in support of our efforts, including a highly profitable coffee morning at Westmoor Community Centre, a Saturday bag pack at Killingworth Morrison’s, our ever popular Gameshow Night extravaganza and regular cake and sweet sales throughout the year.
Previous years have seen us support a wide variety of causes, including the Bubble Foundation, the TOMA Fund, the Bobby Robson Foundation and St Oswald’s Hospice. Voting is currently underway to select our 2016/17 charity.
