The creative talents of George Stephenson High School Sixth Form students are appearing all over North Tyneside at the moment in a publicity campaign to raise awareness of youth volunteering in the community.
Sixth Form students have worked closely with the young people’s volunteering agency VODA in recent years. This year has again been a great success with Year 12 working with VODA to design publicity material advertising volunteering opportunities in the community. The students produced radio adverts, short videos and visual materials to be used by NEXUS on North Tyneside public transport.
The design has proved to be a big hit and is now adorned on advertising bill boards, metro systems and buses throughout North Tyneside. Robin Fry, VODA Project Manager said, “ We are delighted with the design and the efforts put in by George Stephenson students. We feel the campaign will raise awareness of the real difference young people can make to their community through volunteering”. Mr McElwee, Head of Sixth Form added “ Youth volunteering is a real chance to share the talents and successes of our students across projects in North Tyneside. The feedback we have received from volunteer placements fills me with pride as the students are making a big difference through community involvement.”
