A Fantastic Achievement
My Special Day by
Ashleigh Rutherford
I received a letter inviting me to an award ceremony, at Durham County Cricket Club, on Tuesday June 10th.
|
I was really excited that I had been nominated for an award. The letter said I could take someone with me, so I went to the ceremony with my mam.
|
When we got to the cricket club we went to the main reception.
We had to ask where we were to go. The room we were in was
nicely laid out and we could see the cricket pitch. It was lovely.

|
The ceremony started and people were winning awards. I was not expecting to win but I did - I was voted the Young Female Sports Achiever of the Year. When I went up onto the stage to collect my award, I had my photo taken and everyone was clapping for me.
|
I felt so pleased; my mam told me she was very proud of me and happy that I had won.
I am happy that I have won an award; it was my first award
for doing the sport I enjoy.
